Why is there a double standard for Kimbo?

Why do Kimbo haters want him to fight champion caliber fighters at the beginning of his career?

All other fighters work there way up to fighting the best in the business. But everybody wants a guy fresh off the streets to fight the best. Why is that?

  1. There is a double standard for Kimbo b/c he's headlining the first mainstream MMA fight (national tv). I don't think anyone hates Kimbo they are just of the opinion he's headlining , making TV commercials, the face of this relatively new fight league, when he hasn't done anything but but up bums on the internet.

There is a double standard b/c since he did that now he has such a following, he wants to get in the sport professionally, he's marketable hundreds of thousands, maybe into the millions want to see him. The show had real good ratings saturday night. I don't need to see him fight the best but he was matched with a "tomato can" who they thought he was going to easily knock out , he hit the guy a few times, rattled him and still should have been beat.

  2. because if you talk allot of ****  likeKimbo does, people want to see your cocky *** get scraped. So he put up the talk now he should back his sh*T up. There was a video of him calling out chuck liddell out on youtube man , hes the fckin one instigating. Then after that pathetic lose to Thompson , he was all "oh better take that down quick , I aint as bad as I thought!"

  3. elite XC and gary shaw are promoting him as a top 10 heavyweight and hes not even top 40 IMO. people want to see him exposed because he is getting so much hype. he sells tickets good so they wont put him in against top competition yet tho in case his rep is ruined

  4. People are angry that he is as popular as he is, and already at main event status, when he is just a rookie, and not even that good.

Why do we want to see a rookie fighter as a main event when there could be a much more competitive fight with a fighter that is actually going somewhere?

Kimbo should be on the undercard.

  5. um lets see because he has fought nobodys an old @$$ Tank Abbot who hasnt won a fight in 8 years, and a sorry big guy with no ground and pund who still almost beat Kimbo, I dont want him to fight a Championship level opponent I just want him to fight someone that has average level skills, stankding and on the ground, all they pick for Kimbo to fight is guys who have no ground game so that he doesnt get beat, if he fought anyone with any sort of ground game he would have been beaten in the 1st round.

  6. If he wasn't marketed like this great MMA God, we wouldn't hold him to that standard.  He has been pegged by Elite as the greatest thing since the beginning of MMA, but what has he accomplished?  In his first two fights, he fought a nobody in Mercer and a has been/never was in Abbot.  His "main event" against Thompson showed his true colors.  A fighter who, if he can't knock you out in the first 3 minutes, is far below what his hype made him to be.

Besides, I would respect him alot more if he wasn't gassing in the first round.  By the time the fight finished, he had nothing left at all.  If he was fighting a fighter who was a cardio freak (Couture, Fedor, Arlovski) he would have been crushed.

  7. I don't blame Kimbo.  h**l he did well, against all odds he got his 15 minutes of fame and he did look pretty tough despite not being the best MMA out there.  I still wouldn't fight him.  Good for him.

He looked like he was having second thoughts about this type of fighting for a career though.  Can't blame him, its barbaric.

  8. There is a double standard brought on by Elite and his image.  He looks mean as h**l and as a matter of fact he is...he is tough and he screams baddest on the block...therefore he is expected to be unfairly, but he is...as for the true MMA fans we want to see him go down to prove it is chess not checkers a game of strategy and skill not brute strength.  He entered a tough world and he hasn't been training as long as he should have been.  taking lessons and pulling off what you learn are 2 completely different things.

  9. Because everyone talks him up like he is the greatest thing since Slice'd bread (pun intended). There is no way he should have been in the main event on Saturday.

  10. The double standard is because Kimbo has been touted by Elite XC as an elite MMA competitor when everyone knows that he is clearly not, not yet anyway.  If he is going to be pumped up as the greatest thing since sliced bread, then he should be fighting the best in the business, not tomato cans.

  11. Its simple kimbo is being given fights against people that arnt lighting any fires to give him time to train with bas etc to get his other skills up lets face it tim sylivia , andri alovski, etc etc would beat him lets cut the sh@t they would and so would the ufc light heavyweights (and i mean most of them)he is being looked after but being hyped up thats why people are getting fed up with him

  12. everyone wants him to fight the best because he claims to be the best fighter out there
