  1. Because these letters are at the very end of the alphabet, and whoever invented our amazing plethora of words quite simply ran out of inspiration towards the end...

    Shame the alphabet isn't in reverse - Z, Y and X may have inspired so many more words while inspiration was fresh...I think these letters are much more colourful than A, B and C (plus they're worth a lot more in Scrabble!)

    Hafwen :o}

  2. I believe our language is a compilation, a mixture of other languages comes from the Latin language, at least a mass majority of the english language is modeled after the Latin language.

    An example of this is Animal names.

    The Latin name for a Orca Whale is Orcinus orca.

    The latin name for a Cat is Felus, which sounds like Feline. The subspecies is Catus, which sounds like cat.

    As for X, y and z, I'm not so sure. In our speech, the other letters that accent or accomplice those letters isn't great in number. Other than that I don't know much else, hope I helped.

  3. Well for one, two of the three letters you listed. Y and Z are very new to our alphabet.  For centuris they have been represented by other sounds.

    The Z, is a comnbination of the C and the S. In Latin the S would take its palce and other languages such as French would use the C.

    The Y is known as "i griega"  Meaning Greek I and the Romans eliminated the use of it by replacing it in most sense with the letter I.

    The X forms an ungaingly sound a the beginning of a work and is often represented by a combination of letters in lieu of an X.

    Hope that helps a little.
