Why is there a figure skating Champions Gala?

Figure skaters have to spend so much time to train for their competitions, I don`t really think it`s fair to ask them to spend more time to practice an exhibition routine that they may or may not perform. If it were me in that situation I`d tell the gala organizers to p**s off. If there is to be a gala it should be at a different venue from the competition.

well the gala is just something that there for the sake of it, for fun, watch the real skaters not just who they are when they're trying to get a title.

and the programs that they do at galas a lot of times they're programs that they did a previous yr, on tour/ show etc or even just they're short / long  program.

also think about it, if you're skating the same 2 programs over and over and over again wouldn't you get bored and want to skate to something else? the gala's that something else
