  1. I think it's because there has been less history in Yankee societies, so there has been less time to really get to know other types of people well.

    Also, my feeling is that Yankees (and I am one) are a little bit more isolated geographically.  


  2. I think it is because our population is growing so fast people are desperate to categorize you and keep everybody straight.  

    I assume by Yankee you mean USA.  I am from the south, however.
