  2. Political BS the US is showing Iran that It is the big gun in the gulf and if it gets too mouthy it could get smacked like Georgia just was by Russia.

  3. It's called power projection - Walk softly and carry a big stick!!  Or in this case having a few aircraft carrier battlegroups on hand can be a big ace in the hole!!


  4. We are always there patrolling the gulf. There is never a time when a Carrier isn't within a few days distance to the gulf. That's also why we have a forward deployed carrier based in Japan.  

  5. To keep the gulf open and oil flowing after Israel bombs Iran's nuke sites.

  6. Just a routine excercise. We do it all the time.

    It lets countries know we are there and helps us us practice working with allies. Several of these excercises are annual events.

    No doubt that this one is to help stabilze the region. Everyone quiets down a little when there is 3 carrier battle groups nearby.
