For some odd reason, when windows xp pro is loaded for the first time, there is a second hourglass 22 seconds later, this happens when i installed PC Tools Antivirus, Before that, i had AVG Free edition, and when XP Starts up, there is No second hourglass.

I understand when Windows Xp Pro starts up, usually it shows the hourglass for a few seconds, it just means that XP is trying to Load Up, and it knows what its doing, but now.....

i always have to see the second hourglass show up for like 2 seconds, it really does not bother me at all, but is this normal?

Maybe that 2nd hourglass means that the antivirus is loaded up, but i am not sure, any clues?

  1. Hi.

Nothing to worry. It's just that they probably have put command that their antivirus program loads after XP is finished loading so there wouldn't be any conflicts.

If You know how to see this, try. Take a look at startup files an when You find PC Tools Antivirus check if behind the .exe is command -delay or similar.

    Bye.

  2. From what you describe, I would say it's the anti-virus loading. I would not worry about it.
