Why is there a seperate main course list? Can't a person choose rice / noodle soup as their dinner?

Would not something like Veggie Obsession or Thai Stir Fry under "noodles" count as something that will fill you up? Why is there a seperate "main dish"? So if I was to go there, can I just order an appetizer and the Veggie Obsession? Or is that inappropriate?

And what about the noodle soups? Are they not something to be eaten as main course...? It sounds filling to me =S (I'm always such a slow eater and get filled fast).

  1. Menus are divided into categories, but in U.S. restaurants you can order just other courses (like apps, salad, soup, etc) without ordering a main course.  It's not improper.  Many people prefer to eat a variety of smaller dishes instead of a big main course.

I qualify that with "in the U.S." because sometimes it is considered slightly improper in some very fancy/stuffy restaurants elsewhere in the world.  We're more casual here.

  2. I think that Thai folks list that as a separate list because it can't really fit into anywhere else. :)

But really, you can choose noodles/rice dishes as your dinner. Don't worry about separate lists too much. I think it's an Asian thing. It's perfectly appropirate to order just a noodle dish! I do it all the time.

  3. it's just for the conveneince of the customers who follow a more traditrional approach to dining as is generally accepted.

I have my own restaurant and if you want to eat the desserts as your main course then that's just fine.

My menu is also separated as such

soups and starters-sub categorized into appetizers, salads and soups or combinations

entrees - separated into meats, seafood or as marked, vegetarian

    desserts

pre fixe menuwhich includes a non vegetarian and a vegetarian 3 course meal

drinks - cocktails, wines, spirits etc

All foods and drinks not in the entree list as vegtarian are marked V if they are vegetarian, In any case the ingredients are listed for, again, customer convenience

  4. I have no idea what you're talking about since this is a totally vegetarian restaurant. But omg does it look delicious.

  5. The main courses are the fancier, and thus more expensive dishes. Also, most men will not be filled up by anything other than a main course. It's also rude to order only side dishes.
