  1. Think so. The bible has so many stories familiar from other gods.

Horus had 12 disciples, died and ressurected 3 days later.

  2. a corruption of the truth, natch

  3. the noah story came from the Summerian culture, long before the Hebrews or the Bible. Look up the Epic of Gilgamesh

  4. what happened was well known by word of mouth and was written in more than one place!!

  5. It's not the only story

  6. No.

The Bible is the inspired word of God.

Let us not forget, that people from around the known world heard of, and came to King Solomon, to hear him speak. I would bet that whatever he said, traveled.

  7. Why is the epic of Gilgamesh the same as the story of noahs ark alot of groups from that area have flood stories

  8. No. It's ripped off the story of Noah

  9. Try reading the Epic of Gilgamesh, written thousands of years before the bible.  It is the EXACT same story, right down to the last details.

The clincher?  The god worshipped in that story was the sun.

  10. A perversion of the true story.

  11. Because Hinduism borrowed it from the Bible of course

  12. because people are afraid of floods. They didnt know what caused them.

  13. Well let's look at the facts. Most early (and modern) city's are near a water source. And what happens when it rains too much near a water source? Early peoples didn't know what caused it, so they made story's about it. Every culture has a flood story, just as every culture (or majority there of) have a messiah figure to release them from the pains of Earth in some way or another. Does that mean that one is true? No, it just means humans are more similar than some realise.

  14. Yes.  The bible and all its stories are "borrowed" from other sources, including but not limited to: Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Egyptian Osiris worship, Mysteries of Mythras, Sumerian and Babylonian folklore and religion....  Its a nice hybrid book telling stories from so many different cultures.

  15. Lots of cultures have "sole survivor" flood story myths...it's a convenient way to hold up a paragon of the faith - if you claimed this guy who thought and acted like "this" was rewarded with life, you might get people in the neighborhood to imitate that way of thinking and acting...

besides, if you lived in mud huts, any harsh rain storm could wash away your whole life...what's a greater motivator of fear than telling you what you fear most is controlled by your deity?
