Why is there a surchage on chicken pizza's?

I don't know bout other countries but in Australia there is a common thread in our pizza chains.

If you were to go into a butcher shop, chicken would be the cheapest meat to buy.

However, when you go into a pizza place, there is a surcharge for having chicken on pizza or ordering a chicken pizza. The surcharge is generally $1.50.

Although there a different suppliers accross the country but he main two is Ingham's and Steggles which supply all the other fast food outlets and these companies also supply butcher shops.

So my question is:

Why is chicken pizza more expensive then beef/lamb style pizza's????? Serious question for i love chick pizza and i'm a tight **** when it comes to money

Becuase chicken breast get a price where other meats take more processing and are not as cost effective. Have you ever noticed on every menu in different resturants chicken breast is always higher in cost. But chicken is one of the meats which is readily available everywhere this is why it cost less in the grocery stores. That is also why chicken of the sea tuna is called chicken of the sea becuase they are making it sound thate there is tuna every where which is not true and a bit of false advertising. So to answer your question it's cheaper since there is so much but chicken breast is higher because it is the prime cut of meat of the chicken which more people want driving that price of meat to higher cost. sounds like it would be easier to make a whole chicken pizza. Be glad they do not use chiecken pieces which is the lower end cost of chicken which has alot of the stuff we would chuck (fat & skin).

B/c they sell it less and they need to make up the cost somewhere.

You have heard of GST right?? Well that is why there is a surcharge on chicken pizzas. When the Federal government introduced the GST, cooked chicken is charged, but not raw chicken. As for the beef, lamb etc.. I have no idea why it is only the chicken pizzas effected...maybe you should ask the store?? It's gotta be Dominoes, right?? My favourite!!
