  1. A marketing gimmick that stuck.

Did you know there are Chinese wines with mice, snakes and other weird animals pickled in them? Ew. Worm doesn't sound so bad now, eh?

  2. Because whoever is willing to eat it will get totally tanked even more so because the worm has soaked up alcohol. The alcohol has also sterilized it so it is safe to eat.

  3. 'You know you're drunk, when you don't even taste the worm.'

(Williem Dafoe in Born on the 4th of July)

  4. There is a law about tequila: It will not have any worms.

Worms are only allowed in Mezcal.

  5. The worm is in mescal not tequila

  6. Ew that is pretty nasty. I guess by the time you get to the bottom you would be too drunk to notice though... lol

  7. Originally it was a sign of authenticity.  That worm is only found in the type of agave (not Blue ironically) used for Mezcal.

If you think that's gross.....next time you visit Mexico check out the local markets and sample the various delicacies made with insects.

    Chile/Lime grasshoppers anyone?
