Why is there cm in front of my yahoo.com?

Since my last update my Yahoo URL defaults to http://cm.my.yahoo.com/

I also have trouble shutting the program down when signing off.

This is the URL to the new format (My Yahoo Beta).

As for the trouble shutting down, I assume you mean your browser.  Although the new beta format has caused a lot of people a variety of problems, I doubt that the format change is causing your problem.  It could be that the Yahoo servers are experiencing a period of high traffic, hence the delay in signing you off.  Your browser won't close until the sign off process completes.
