Why is there little oxygen in rainforest soils?

  1. There is so little oxygen in rainforest soils because of all of the water.  The rainfall exceeds evaporation, so extra water from the soil runs off, taking oxygen and different types of nutrients with it.

    I am guessing that the large amounts of water would also dilute the soil, containing nutrients and oxygen in it, so their levels wouldn't be as high.
