Why is there no Men's uneven bar routine in Olympic gymnastics?

Bar height and distance apart are adjustable, so I wouldn't think a difference of anatomy would be a factor.

Can anyone provide a link as evidence?

  1. Male anatomy will not allow it. Think about it.   Edit   To the thumbs down If you don't believe that get someone to try it

  2. Men do the high bar and the parallel bars instead

  3. Interesting question, I was wondering about this too. I don't buy the explanation that there is something more "feminine" about the uneven bars, since the routines on the men's high bars could be the same except with only one bar.

It turns out it's just a historical tradition that has been carried forward. The details are long and complicated but here's the gist of it. Originally only men competed in gymnastics. A french book in the 1830 suggested setting the parallel bars to different heights to allow short and tall people to train on the same apparatus. Only in the 1930s would this setting enter formal worldwide competition, around the same time women entered worldwide competition. Uneven bars were originally an elective event but because many women elected to do them instead of swinging rings, they became an exclusively feminine event.

There's probably some information missing there, but you get the basic idea. Its for historical reasons.

  4. probably because men are too tall to do the uneven bars. like how girls arms arent strong enough to do the rigns
