This is a weird question, but when we buy eggs from the supermarket why or how is it yolk?

But when we see a chicken lay an egg, theres a chick inside the egg?

Does this mean the yolk is infact the chicken? I'm confused.

  1. becasue when the egg gets cold it kills the chick and it turns to that yellow stuff the yolk !!!!!!!!

    andythink else

  2. the white and yellow part of an egg are just food supplies for the chicken.First the egg should be fertilized then the real egg which looks like a tiny egg inside the yolk will grow while feeding through these food supplies( plus heat from the hen's body)

  3. Eggs from the grocery store have not been fertilized.  An infertile egg is not a potential chicken.  For there to be a potential chicken in the egg, it had to have been fertilized before the shell was formed.

  4. The egg you buy in the supermarkets arnt fertilized

  5. An egg is an egg, more or less.  Whether it's a human's or a chicken's.  It cannot grow to become a new person or chicken without a sperm.  But if it is fertilized, it is large enough to contain nutrients for the growing creature to live off for a while.  For a human, that's only enough to implant in the uterus a bit later.  But for a chicken, it has to last until it hatches.  Without a growing embryo inside, those nutrients just go to waste unless you make them into breakfast!

It is occasionally possible to get a fertilized egg from a grocery store.  The growing embryo starts as just a small red speck and then grows a network of blood vessels around the yolk to be able to consume its energy better.  So if you see a red speck inside an egg, that was an embryo that didn't make it (it wouldn't have survived long when removed from the warmth of a nest).  It doesn't happen often at all, but it does happen every now and then when a rooster gets loose or something.  But by and large, no rooster, no embryo and an egg is just an egg.

  6. in order for a chick to grow in an egg it needs to be fertalized by a rooster.  The chickens that make the eggs we guy are not around roosters, hence no chicks.

  7. the yolk is nothing if it hasnt been fertilized.

  8. The yolk isn't the chicken, the yolk is what the chicken eats.

  9. The eggs you buy at the grocery store haven't been fertilized.  The ones the babies come out of have been fertilized by a rooster.
