  1. Political Correctness. Plain and simple. If they had put English (as would be more expected) then the Latin Americans would have pitched a hissy fit because most American-made things are posted with both English and Spanish these days. It's our "melting-pot" culture I suppose.

I agree with you that this country was built on English and such but we were also built on the Bible and people are pushing that out aswell so I guess times are changing. The big gulf international championships (I don't know the actual name of it, sorry) is requiring all competitors to learn English now! They say it's because it's basically a language that everyone around the world is learning and/or knows so it'd be best for them to do so. I personally wish that there was a concrete law that stated every American had to learn English (proper English, mind you) because I'm tired of ebonics and spanglish.

  2. People have come from all over the world to live in the USA and because of this, there is so much diverseness here. We do have one language that is mainly spoken here in the USA which is English. We are a established nation but not everyone does come from the USA. The only ones who were here when the USA was established were the Indians.

  3. Well, even though English is technically the "official" language in the US, nobody who holds any position of power will actually admit it in public. If they did, some might question the idea that America is a so-called "melting pot". Although that title can be questioned regardless given the social climate/race relations when it comes to race in America.

Have you ever been outside of the country? Almost  everywhere you go you will find SOMEBODY that can fluently speak your language. Throughout Europe (speaking of Paris from experience) there are plenty multilingual, or bilingual signs. French, English, and/or Spanish or some other language. You will pretty much never see anything like that in America. And people get p**s poor attitudes when the subject comes up. Most Americans have no respect for other people's culture.

  4. because we are diverse

  5. i noticed this too if there was an official language it would be english or english and spanish. america is becoming laid back since the older days when immigrants were brainwashed into only speaking english and only teaching their kids english. the goverment used to change "ethnic names" to anglo names. times have drastically changed. i think they dont put an official language to show how that the usa is an accepting country by not having an official language. it kind of states that we are so diverse and that like 10 % of citizens still cant even speak coherent english and another 10% still speak broken english. they are trying to be politically correct.

  6. Because America is a melting pot of other races. Duh.
