  1. I think that male don't want to do this job. It's a hard work, especially in hospital. So in the first hand, it is a hard job, and in the second hand, the wage is not so good.

  2. It has, traditionally, been a female position.  There are more male nurses today than every before.

  3. its up to the males to make that choice they don't see the profession masculine enough

  4. actually, i have noticed an increase in male nurses these past 2 years or so. the reason we probably have not had many males in the nursing industry is because of stereotyping.

  5. Although I have nothing personally against male nurses, society as a whole kinds of frowns on male nurses. And the reason for this is that male nurses are considered g*y, for nursing has always been considered a female vocation.

  6. Probably because they will get teased or people will think they are g*y. Nursing also requires a lot of caring and women have that maternal instinct which makes them more interested in doing that kind of thing

  7. I think it's a hold-over from older times, when women became nurses and men became doctors.  Today there are more and more female doctors, but nursing is still seen as an odd career choice for men. (Men seem to be more likely to become PAs (physician assistants) than nurses.)
