  1. There aren't only two.  There are many, actually - over 40.

Some big ones:   Green, Socialist, Consitutionalist, Libertarian.

  2. Why 'are' there .....

There aren't. There are other parties.  They're just ignored for the most part because of the incredible amount of money needed to launch a viable campaign.

  3. there's more then two parties there's the green party and some other ones i dont about but they never make it, their not as popular and they all have different meanings.. click below will tell you more

  4. The two parties - Republican and Democrat - you refer to are dominant in America because they each represent the left and right of the political spectrum.  Then you have minority parties that mostly reside at the extreme ends of the spectrum, essentially left or right wing.  I think one or two of the minor parties might actually be centrist.  Either way, the minor parties are minor because very few people in humanity in general think outside of the left/right political spectrum framework (socialism to the far left, facism to the far right and a moderate center).  So in a way, the two parties to choose from in America aren't there because other parties "don't have the money" to get big, it's because few people think outside the Democrat/Republican arena.

  5. there are plenty of political parties in america.  they don't have the numbers of the big two, and nobody seems interested in forming a coalition to amass some numbers.

thing is, we think of most of those parties as fringe parties, either empty personality cults or extremists of some sort.

  6. there's also the green and liberal parties but the democrat and republican parties are more popular

  7. The American answer to parlimentary democracy is simply to have formed two permanent blocks of coalitions loosely bound into a "party"

The government hating/people hating/racist/uneducated/take all the money for themselves coalition= Republicans

The government hating/people hating/racist/uneducated/take all the money themselves coalition= Democracts

The only difference is that the Dems invade slightly...slightly.. fewer countries

  8. That's like asking why is there only Christian and Catholic, when there are a billion other religions.

  9. There is no other party to challenge the Democrats and Republicans.
