  1. ... beacuse Britain is a notoriously inward looking and xenophobic nation.

  2. I agree that the BBC and ITV news seems to concentrate on domestic issues. Particularly ITV. All about obesity and Wayne and Coleen.

Never watched Channel 5 but I would imagine with Natasha Kaplinsky at the helm, it wouldn't be in-depth, hard-hitting journalism.

I think Channel 4 news is fantastic though. Very international. Covers the less populist stories. Balanced. What's wrong with Channel 4 news?

  3. The different companies are in competition so they aim for the news that they think will bring the viewers in. There's all the news elsewhere if you want to look, particularly from the BBC: World Service, Radio 4, their homepage. If you really want the details TV isn't the best place to look.

  4. .....and so many cooking and property programmes instead!

  5. When you live in Wales, evey bloddy item is international news.

Maybe its to show the UK that life in this part of the world isnt all that bad!!
