When they should be the two highest priorities?

They seem to be the two main areas with budget costs as well, when it should be the other way around. What is *&%#$!! wrong with our government?

  1. Lack of concern?  We are spending an average of $7500.00 per student per year in the U.S.  If you are not geting results, talk to the teachers Union.  It almost takes an act of God to get a bad union teacher fired.

  2. Because Liberals say so.

  3. Money is the answer....too much power in the insurance companies, and i buy into the big brother conspiracy that keeping people dumb is beneficial to the elites.

  4. Your Q should be:

Why is there such a lack or concern for education and health care in our country from the DEMOCRATS.

Democrats want the rest of us to pick up the tab for all the deadbeats, and if allowed, will make this a third world country and ruin our economy, People should be responsible for the health care and education of their own children. If that was the case, people would have as many children as they could afford, and this would be a much prosperous country, but as long as people think it's the government's responsibility to support every slacker out there, we will have democrats selling you this idea.

  5. It is not the government, it is the electorate.  The government is elected by you, the electorate to carry out the promises it made.

If you, the electorate, chose not to vote in a government that cares about healthcare, why blame the government.

And assuming that you are in the USA, that is a big problem, if people choose to look.

Despite the USA spending more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet, the USA has one of the highest death rates for kids aged under five in the western world.

    Sad.

  6. The gov't meddling in healthcare and education got it to the situation it's in.  And now they want to s***w it up even more.  They need to stay out of it.

  7. Oh there's plenty of concern for both areas in this country.  The concern is that the gov't just wants to throw more money at schools and that will fix the problem.  Private schools (both religious and non) turn out kids with better educations at less than half the price.  Our concern is that govt is forcing kids to gov't schools instead of giving them a reasonable choice, and turning out morons in the meantime.

Healthcare could go the same way as education unless we nip the whole "free healthcare" thing in the bud.

  8. well, the rightwing-nuts have stamped the label of Socialism and Communism on the idea of taking care of our own!

  9. IT'S NOT THE GOVERNMENT'S JOB TO "PROVIDE" HEALTH CARE!!!!!! You show me ONE other nation (and not according to Michael Moore) that has "universal" health "care" that actually runs smoothly, and I might someday begin to concede that it may be a good thing, but until then, I am looking at facts. First, here at home our government can't even run ONE hospital-WALTER REID without MANY problems and inadequacy, and sorry, we can't blame Bush for this one... and I'm sorry, but if our government begins to instate "universal health care" here, our taxes will go up. Our taxes go up, we won't be able to continue paying for our choice of doctors which means we all eventually will have to use the government provided "care" and that scares me to death.

Furthermore, by allowing the frivolous lawsuits (via trial lawyers) against hospitals this cause insurance rates to go up up up. Since it is expensive to get good coverage, that is why there are those without it. However, having our nanny state take that over won't solve a thing. How about the government actually stop allowing these lawsuits that drive up costs so that the problem won't exist in the first place?!

Secondly, HOW MUCH MORE should our precious, pointless public reeducation centers be getting? EACH YEAR they get at least what they did the year prior, NEVER a penny less. When you hear that the school budget is being cut, it simply means that say, if in 2006 schools got $1 billion, that in 2007 they will get another $1 billion as opposed to $1.4 billion... And schools do get BILLIONS of dollars per year. If that isn't good enough, nothing will be. Our schools could be getting $1 trillion per year, per state, and as long as there is corruption in the higher uppers in the education system, and unions running the show, that money will do no more good than the billions that they already do get. If there wasn't corruption within those who are in charge, a million dollars would be sufficient. Our schools are failing because of the education association, not a lack of funding...

  10. The quick answer is people are to sick, fat and stupid to care.

The more complex answer is that the US senate and congress are owned by special interest groups and none of these old WEALTHY men have small children, even when they did, their kids would get the best private school education and health care,  YOUR TAX money can buy them!

We've had 8 years of Republicans who helped get America into the disgrace it's in, now the Democrats are doing nothing in order to maintain this disgrace.

  11. because we are spending too much time worrying about illegal immigrants. we need to just kick them out and have no mercy. then we will be able to focus on more important things in America, like education and health care.

  12. Welcome to aMErica.

  13. Regarding education:  That begins at home.  The government can't control bad parenting.

Regarding Health Care:  It is one of the major concerns.
