  1. Wow, maybe because the United nations depends on the US for most of its funding.

Or maybe because if they pass a resolution they don't back it up?

Or maybe because so many of them are either on the take or their governments are?

Then again it could be that they have made the USA the bad guy one too many times and are having a hard time getting troops from us to do anything with.

Or my personal favorite, because of all of the above they are a powerless joke.

  2. Because the UN is inept and isn't able to accomplish anything of substance.

  3. because the UN doesn't actually do anything.

  4. Because the UN is just as corrupt as any other government.

  5. once the UN has it is own freedom, there will be no war

once people like Bush, stop telling lies to UN, there will be no war.

once the UN find way to be funded it self, there will be no war.

  6. because the un sucks and should be disbanned, they don,t do the job they were asked to do, some where along the way they lost the true meaning of what they were invented for

  7. Because the UN passes resolutions but never enforce them.  The UN  had ordered Saddam Hussein to allow inspections for weapons of mass destructions for 16 years and there were no consequences when he didn't obey.

  8. Colin Powell lied to them. He admits he was told to lie!

  9. Well there is an organization more inept than FEMA........NATO had to step in and resolve the Bosnia/Serbia conflict......and how about the genocide in the Sudan, but they sit by ignorantly.......then Sudan wants to whip someone(40 lashes) for naming a teddy bear Moe-ham-id

  10. There are really a lot of conflicts in this world, and UN is just too small to cover all of them. Just think how would you ask two people holding their weapon to drop their weapon and sign for peace treaty, while you are stranger to them.

I believe peace workers work really hard to do this job.

  11. Even though the United Nations was based on the idea of stopping war and promoting peace, war still exists amongst nations.  The UN is not a "cat-all" for solving the worlds problems.  There are many different dispute areas and many issues in which nations go to war over that the UN simply does not and probably will not have control over.  Can the UN create peace in the Middle East between the Arab countries and Israel?  No, it has tried for over 50 years and still has not succeeded.  There are just simply too many chances for war for the UN to be able to stop them all.  War is a situation that is adventageous to some people and they use that and take advantage of it to benefit themselves or to protect their government.  The UN is a great idea, and please dont get me wrong it does help and probably has prevented many wars, but there is no possible way that this organization can universally stop conflict.
