  1. That is not a field, nor is that water... it is called ice.

  2. The synthetic based hockey field (Astro turf) requires frequent watering, to provide for player comfort, hockey ball's bounce and friction control.

  3. Water is there mainly to allow you to slide. It can slow the game down a little bit at the start, but if you have ever tried to dive on a dry pitch it is terrible carpet burn. By allowing you to slide, it decreases risk of knee and ankle injury- dry fields are like trying to stop and turn quickly on carpet- when you have studded shoes on, it is very difficult.

  4. Because over in India it is monsoon season, meaning it rains.
