Why is there water shortage in this world?

i can't understand this thing. there is more water on this earth but why we face water shortages?

 One of the biggest reasons for water shortage in our world are, increase in human population, and also the rapid increase in world economy. Increase in the population is termed as the major reason for water shortage in the world. Scientists are of the view, that global warming is not the main reason for water shortage, they tie a direct link between water shortage and increase in human population.
