Why is this Blackberry's red light blinking

it's my bro's and was wondering if the red light means anything. it's blinking at about 5 sec intervals. i don't know anything about it. i turned it on now that red light is blinking-but the screen is turned off. i just want it completely off so the battery doesn't drain.

It means that your brother received a message (email or something).

Hold the off button down for a few seconds to turn the Blackberry off.

It means you have messages somewhere, either text, email, voicemails, reminders, alerts.....
