Ok, this is pissing me off SO MUCH. i download icq just ONCE to try the d**n program. turns out it sucks so i unstall it, now when ever i type something in the firefox address bar, it takes me to a STUPID ICQ search result page. How do i make this stop. For example, before i installed ICQ, if i wanted to go to www.down-south.com, all i had to do is type in "down south" in the firefox URL box. now when ever i type in "down south" it always takes me to a icq search result page. And also, i set up some quick searches with various websites in firefox, but i cannot use them because every time i try, the stupid icq page shows up. how do i stop it???????????????

  1. In your navigation bar type: "about:config" (without the quotes). You should get a warning page but just click the OK button. (Which sais something along the lines of "I'll promise I will be careful.)

In the Filter bar type: "keyword.URL" There should be only 1 result. Double click it to edit and change it to " http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe... ". This should fix it.

Copy the URL or open it first and make sure you have the full URL string, it seems Yahoo cuts a part of a long URL to make it shorter.

  2. In your Firefox address bar type (without quotes) "about:config". In the filter box type browser.search.defaultenginename .

Check what the value is (probably ICQ). Double-click (or right-click & select "Modify") anywhere on that line and a box should come up with the current default engine name. Just change it to Google and see if that fixes the problem.

Check the rest of the page for ICQ and replace it them with Google.

BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PAGE - IT CAN s***w UP YOUR FIREFOX SETTINGS
