Why is this Yamaha Wolverine stuck in park?

My friend has a 2005 Yamaha Wolverine 450 4x4 Automatic ATV that will not come out of the park position. The atv has gotten in a few accidents but its in good condition. It starts, and it got itself to where it is parked but now it wont shift out of park, clutch or not, brakes or not it's stuck. Any ideas? Maybe something is bent? anyone had this problem? suggestions? if not any idea how much the work would cost to get it fixed (range)?

Our Honda does that from time to time. Have you tried rocking it while it's shut off to get it to neutral?
