Why is the Nikon P80 more expensive than the NIkon N80?

If P80 is just a pint and shoot, and the N80 is an SLR?

  1. Both of them are SLR cameras. BUT:

P 80 is the DSLR camera.

    N 80 is the 35mm SLR.

You know that the DIGITAL camera has lot of features, option etc more and over more then 35mm camera.

    None of them P&S camera.

  2. Hung is sort of right ... the N80 is indeed a 35 mm SLR, however the P80 is a SLR-like camera.  It has a fixed lens that cannot be removed or exchanged with another like a DSLR.

The entry level Nikon DSLR is the D40 ... under $470 with a AF-S 18-55 mm ED lens.

  3. The P80 is the newest prosumer Mega Zoom Digicam with 18x (27mm - 486mm) zoom lens with a lot of features.

While the N80 is a 35mm film Entry level film camera, which you will need to purchase separate lenses and films. You will need at least 2 zoom lenses to cover the same range and keep changing between lenses.

So in long run, the N80 will cost you a lot more than the P80.

My suggestion is take the P80.

  4. Any SLR camera is going to be more expensive because they are better, higher quality cameras.  They take better quality pictures than point and shoots with more options like additional interchangable lenses and flashes....
