  1. the type of components are probably outdated. usually thats why stuff gets cheap. even though the specs on the old models are still good

  2. it's really not that cheap for the specs. you can check this article for a $500 gaming rig that you can build yourself. you can upgrad the processor, memory and hd and come about cheaper than the tiger machine.

  3. Well its from Tiger Direct and if you price the parts from them and newegg you would maybe be able to build for near the same price without the OS. I just built on for my some with similar specs but 2 video cards and spent around 1000.00 on it but I put XP 64 bit on it. The real pricey ones have 2 or 3 video card and huge 1kw power supplies and some high end memory sets.

  4. 64 BIT O.S.

  5. tiger direct has the cheapest deals and is a pretty decent company.

  6. It isn't all that cheap. See below for what the same (or equivalent) components would cost if you bought them separately (Newegg prices).

Factor into the price the idea that some components, like the included power supply, are likely to be cheaper than the parts I've listed, and that they have various other ways to cut costs (OEM instead of retail processor, for example) and you can see where they make their money.

    Case:       100.00

    Motherboard: 63.00

    Processor:  93.00

    Memory:     80.00

    DVDRW:      30.00

    DVD-ROM:    20.00

    550w PSU:   90.00

    500GB disk: 70.00

    9600gt:    110.00

    Vista 64   110.00

    Total:  766.00

  7. It's because AMD parts are used. AMD stuff is cheaper right now. Go through Tigerdirect, and search the prices of the parts. Add them up. Now throw a few bucks in for labor to build it, and don't forget to add an Operating System->Vista Home Premium 64 BIT. Draw your own conclusions.

Edit: I shop Tigerdirect, Newegg, and Zipzoomfly, for parts, and lean towards Tigerdirect everytime.

  8. For what it is it does seem very reasonable but you should ask if you want a pc for just now or for the future.  Read this article from 18 months ago about the cpu and see what you think.  http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/does...

  9. I was just as shocked as you are, but yeah i'm it's true, they have good deals there.
