Why is this happening to me!?

Question

I am 23 and I came home to spend the summer holiday with my family. I was so dumb and I told my Mom I was getting two more piercings in each ear (for a total of 3 piercings in each earlobe if you count my previous one). Now, she telling me I shouldn't get it because it will look like too much and that's it not going to look good.

I am over 18 and it's my decision to do what I want to my body! It's not her that's going to live with it, IT'S ME'! I still want to get it done but she said I should only get 1 more piercing in my ear and I think that's ******* unfair! I know I can still get it done, but I think it feels wrong because my mother will feel like I am disobeying her and one of the commandments were 'To honour thy mother and thy father.'

Why is she doing this to me? And what do I do now?

I think you shouldn't let religion get in your way because all it is, is something thats unproven for people to believe in. Thats great you believe in something but seriously if thats whats going to stop you then dont even bother

Honor thy mother and thy father is an important rule to remember, true, but this isn't so much a situation where you are going to get struck by lightening. You are of age to do things as you wish, and she will always be your mom wanting what is best for you.  Try sitting down with her and talking to her, perhaps in a different way. Try something like this:  Mom, I love you more than life itself and I do, always have, and always will respect your thoughts and opinions on what we talk about. I just don't want your feelings to get hurt if I don't always do everything in the way you feel that I should. I am growing into a wonderful individual, much thanks to you, mom, and I want you to try to trust my decisions and not judge me if I test my own individuality apart from yours. You raised me to make good decisions, even if they aren't what you would do,and I think this is a good decision for me.
