  1. I believe part of the reason is because many of the top baseball players are tied up with professional ball during the summer season.

And those saying there isn't much interest outside the US are ignorant. While it may not be a big deal in Europe or Africa, baseball is huge in many Caribbean nations (Cuba, The Dominican Republic), Japan, and some of the South Eastern Asia countries like South Korea. In fact, I would argue that baseball is more popular in some of those countries than it is in the US.

In the case of softball, I think part of the reason it's being dropped is because it's mainly seen as an American sport.

  2. Probably. I don't think that any other countries besides America actually like playing Softball or baseball. It's mostly an all American sport.

  3. Not too many people outside of the U.S.A. enjoy either of those two sports as international competitions, such as the Olympics..

    - Pepper.

  4. yeah it is due to lack of interest

  5. Most likely yes, other countries just don't care as much.

  6. I read online about the end of women's softball was because so much money goes into building regulation baseball and softball fields. In the end, they are only used for the Olympics. Not much use comes to them after the Olympics is over. Folks are still using Olympic Stadiums built in the past except the baseball & softball diamonds. The same reason as to why polo was withdawn back in 1936. Really, what do you do with a polo field after Olympics are done?

It's not really lack of interest, it's due to the fact that it's so costly to maintain.

  7. It isn't
