In softball, the ball is always neon green. In baseball, the ball is always white. why is softball played with a green ball instead of a white ball?

  1. There's no reason why I think. Probably to help filter it out from distance, although close up, a softball is way bigger, and in my opinion, not that easy to catch with a small ball. Probably made for them to rack the ball up?

  2. im not sure but i thinks its so the fielders can see it better. the ball is so big that you couldn't see it in the sky so they make it a color that everyone can see the ball

  3. While I'm not sure of this, I think it might be because softball fields aren't usually lit up as well as baseball games are, so for night games, neon green is a lot easier to see than white is for outfielders.
