Why is this soap called "All My Children"?

It is the Brotherhood of Man, we are all God's Children. Creator Agnes Nixon wrote a poem that started the show:

The Great and the Least,

The Rich and the Poor,

The Weak and the Strong,

The word MY in the title is refering to God.  Hence All God's Children
