Why is this suddenly happening?!?!?

We have a four year old male dachshund and a one year old female dachshund, she was spayed. But they are suddenly starting to really "like" each other. I won't get into details but why is this all of the sudden starting?

A dog "humping" another dog does not always mean it's sexual, this is also an alpha trait.  One is trying to be the alpha by humping - he wants to be the boss.

Mating season! It's instincts. My Puggle puppy is starting to really "like" my cat, also.

He gets clawed at every attempt.

Is your male dachshund neutered?

Generally this would be a domination behavior as the female is not giving off any odors that would stimulate the male into mating.  And the female can do it to the male to show domination.

It's a dominance issue. Dogs aren't humans.
