Why is this week's race the Lenox Industrial Tools 301?

Did they add an extra lap or something? Why else would they call it 301 rather than 300? Sorry but I think this is a crappy race name!

Yes, they added another lap (therefore another mile).  It was likely Bruton Smith's way of making it stand out since he is now the owner of the track (this is the first year he has owned it).

Organizers added an extra lap starting in 2008 to signal the fact that the title sponsor, Lenox Industrial Tools, "is looking for users and suppliers of industrial tools that go the extra mile, whose jobs are physically demanding, day after day, and still find time to contribute to their communities in a meaningful way." The race has been dubbed "The Extra Mile at the Magic Mile."
