  1. hes losing his ability and concentration

    rafa is getting better

  2. It is far from a bad year for Fed. Just he isnt winning as much for the level of play has increased. If he were losing in early rounds, then I would say there should be concern, but not for reaching finals and losing. His record is still highly successful and all the players would love to have his record, be him. Except for Nadal of course.

  3. age is catching up on him

  4. It just seems bad because he hasn't won a major yet, unlike all the other years. 2 finals in a semi isn't "bad" at all. All this kind of talk is showing how little his abilities were respected in the first place.

He hasn't lost  a lot of his game; Nadal and others just keep learning.

  5. he is getting old

  6. this  year is pretty bad for federer because the guy has been number one and the best tennis player for FOUR straight years........ i mean he has to fall apart sometime...... and i guess that sometime is right now

  7. He is not out for sure. He is not playing bad as well. But he does not dominate the game the way he used to be because upcoming players is challenging him. they know how to play him and eventually beat him like djokovic and especially nadal. They know his weaknesses which were exposed in the past.

  8. I know. Poor guy. He's just going through a bad phase though. Don't underestimate him. He may be back on track within a few months.

  9. He hasn't played bad, it's just the others had more to improve and Nadal showed how much he has improved on grass.. Federer just isn't as dominating as before thats all cause the gap has closed between players..

But using Tiger Woods as an example.. he had a bad patch where everyone was bagging him.. and then he comes back and dominates, if not for his injury, he would keep dominating this yr.. i reckon Federer can do what Tiger did and bounce back greatly

  10. Maybe if he just served and volleyed like you're supposed to at Wimbledon, he would have beaten a clay-courter like Nadal.

  11. Possibly age and supposedly he had mono at the beginning of the year. He will still be the favorite to win the US Open as hard courts isnt Nadal's forte.

  12. He's been suffering from mono for a good part of this year. But really, it's not that Federer has done so bad. I mean, SF at Aussie Open (losing to the guy that went on to win), and Finalist at both the French Open and Wimbledon.

If it was just about any other player, we'd be saying it's a great year for that guy.

Nah, it's more of the fact that the players under Federer have gotten better. Still, Djokovic's his biggest threat for the U.S. Open.

  13. People who keep saying Federer is gonna win the rest torney of the year and retain his no1 ranking are delusional. These are exactly the same people who said Federer could win French Open and WImbledon after his lost in Aussie semi.

  14. everyone has ups and downs.

maybe this year isn't as good as his achievement in 2005/2006. but he has done good this year. much better than many players (not better than djokovic and nadal). roger ranks 3 in the atp race (behind nadal and djokovic)

we used to see him wins a title. so when he lose a match, we thought that he already did that bad. we just not used to see him losing.

federer is a strong opponent in hard court. if he can get back his confidence, he surely will secure his number 1 spot by the end of the season.

  15. this year might indeed be a temporary loss of the number 1 spot for federer. i think the easiest explaination behind this is the fact that he has come to dominate the tennis world the past what like 4-5 years? and it has become almost a saying that the players that go out to play federer only try to get a couple games, maybe a set, because they AND HE knows that federer is going to win. perhaps that is why he is suddenly losing focus. i think that this is exactly what federer needs to push himself more. i can promise you that he will not be out, but perhaps in a time where he needs to find the right motivations to push himself into the next level of play. (which is crazy sounding, seeing what he has achieved all ready)

  16. Well he had mono in January.... and I don't this this year is SO bad for Federer I mean look..

Semis at A.O. , Finals  at French, Finals at Wimby (very close).

He'll be back. He was just feeling the pressure and everyone was saying his career was dead after the Australian Open. I don't think this helps him.  He just needs to take some time off. Not think about tennis for a while and start again. He is a phenomenal player and it would be a pity if he listened to all the negativity.

"The Swiss is too motivated, too talented, too strong, too fit, too professionally organized and too proud to give up working toward winning the biggest titles,"

  17. This isn't a bad year for Roger. He hasn't won a slam at all and failed to make the finals of the Australian Open but Djokovic was unbeatable in the Aus Open, the French Open is currently dominated by Rafa and on grass, Nadal has learned so much from the last to unsuccessful Wimbledon campaigns (in which he both lost in the final to Federer) that he has become a huge force. It is not Federer's fault at all but to silence all his critics, he needs to win Olympic gold and the U.S. open. I should think Federer will outlast the year and retain his no. 1 spot.
