  1. Actually, the moon can have an orange color at any time of the year.

The reason for the orange color is due to the scattering of light by the atmosphere. When the moon is near the horizon, the moonlight has to pass through much more atmosphere than when the moon is directly overhead. By the time the moonlight reaches your eyes, the green, blue, and purple pieces of visible light have been scattered away by air molecules. You only see yellow, orange, or red.

Sometimes the moon appears orange even when it's directly overhead. This occurs when there's a lot of dust, smoke, or pollution in the atmosphere. The size of those particles will determine the type of color you will see. Sometimes the moon will look red, orange...even blue.

  2. it is the sunlight bouncing off the dirty air that we are breathing and is being shown on the moon.  Kinda like why the sky is mostly blue... it's because the sunlight  bounces off the oceans and reflects blue light onto the atmosphere. Because of the increasing air pollution and the humidity, the moon will probably appear to be orange for a while.

  3. idk

  4. I noticed that a few days ago when the full moon was just starting.  It was real windy here that day and dusty so I thought that might be it.  Later that night, around 11 or so, the moon was back to normal.  I know this isn't an answer but I never get to see the other answers if I don't first respond.  Sorry.

Well, nuts.  There are no other answers.

  5. its called a harvest moon, if im not mistaken.
