  1. first of all transmutation and alchemy are one and the same.

"alchemy" comes from the greek word "kemei" meaning (transmutation).

the thing is. our idea of them has changed. we say "alchemy" we think symbols, potions, maps, metals. when we say  "transmutation"  we think of terning one thing in to something different.

If Alchemy is the transmutation of the base to the precious, then transmutation itself must lend itself as well to numerous interpretations.

alchemy is the study of transmutation and every thing involved in it. charts, metals, animals, and so on...

well transmutation is the actual "recipe" lets say, of the thing you want to create.

medallions, philosopher's stone, homunculus, chimeras. and all under the category of transmutation.

there haven't been that meany "things" transmuted in the history of alchemy.which is why you might not find that much info on the subject.
