  1. Trees scrub the CO2 out of the atmosphere and CO2 is the major greenhouse gas.

  2. Bad,because if you take down trees you take aways the homes of a main predator of the forest, owls, who in turn keep the smaller animals population down  Then a population  boom would occur among those smaller prey animals of the food chain and ecsytem.

  3. You don't know why it's bad, just that it is.  Well listen up.  It's not necessarily bad.  Cutting "old growth" forests is irresponsible.  I would agree that's bad.  But modern logging today is controlled.  Trees are planted to replace what is cut.  There are more forests in the US now than there was 50 years ago and its growing.

    .

  4. It ruins the habitat of the animals living there, slows down their production of oxygen as plants, and the machines often produce large amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere, the cause of global warming.  I hope this helps.

  5. i find it hard to believe that this can even be a question for some people ,in Europe we teach children in kindergarden already why we need trees ,

you Americans are the most dangerous people on this planet if it comes to the survival of humanity

    TREES

APART FROM THE FACT THAT EXOTIC FORREST STILL CONTAIN COUNTLESS MYSTERIES OF MEDICINAL VALUE.

they are also the prime factors responsible for the climate that is suitable for human ocupation.

and we have proven (in south africa,Europe,Mexico,USA,and just about every where else)that the forrest are far more valuable in terms of Eco-tourism than for example farming or timber(which has a very short lived value).

TREES leave us OXIGEN and ABSORB CARBON,when in growth

the world bank pays large subsidies for farmers to plant trees especially a tree called Pawlomia because it is one of the better ones that capture carbon.

plants take in carbon dioxide period they dont take in oxigen at night.

they require carbon dioxide and release oxigen.

in the autemn there is an excess of carbon released because of the dead organic material ,the seas and waters when cool absorb this,in the spring when the new growth requires carbo the warmer waters release it ,so in con junction with the seas and rivers the bio mass on this planet maintains a balanced atmosphere for us to breathe.

now with the mass deforrestation(decrease in bio mass)coupled to the increase in carbon emissions, industrial chimneys, aerosol cans, motor cars, burning of plastics and tires to name but a few ,the carbon production by far exeeds what the bio-mass and the waters can handle, and so effect into global warming and the destruction of the ozone layers,

so to counter act these fatal processes we must reforrest and at the same time reduce our carbon emissions.

most governments are aware of these and many first world countries now include programs to reduce their carbon emissions.

the forrests make most of the water that we can drink or use for plant growth(sweet water)

some is condensed from the sea but that reaches only the coastel aereas .

the bulk ,comes from the forests ,and the rivers come from the rainfall which comes from the trees ,

and the trees with precipitation, feed the rivers when it is not raining and keep them running all year round.

DEFORRESTATION if it continues ,is that we could end up looking like Mars.Without an atmosphere ,without water, without air, with out life

If we kill all the trees,we kill the rivers .we kill the rain. we kill us.

the trees also absorb the heat in the day and heat up the place in the night ,so they keep the temperature confertable to live in.

these are some of the reasons why trees are important.plant a tree every week, and help us save the world

    DESERTIFICATION

desertification is also a result of bad agricultural methods and deforrestation

in the dessert the nights are freezing cold and during the days you burn up

the sahara is growing by 7 kilometres every day.

two major desserts in northern china are growing together making one giant dessert and, causing dust storms so making thousands of people refugeese

the trees evaporate a mist which ,which protects us from the strong rays of the sun .

in the days of the dinasaurs this planet was under an aquiferus manta ,a mist that covered the entire earth ,and there were very few desserts .

Count how many there are today, and most of them are as a result of mans actions.

the sahara used to be forrests

arabia ,irak ,iran used to be fertile lands in biblical times

Ghengas Kahn burned all the forrests here and filled the well with water and so turning vast lands into dessert.

Modern agriculture today is doing the same as ghengas kahn but in much bigger territories.

Bad agricultural practises is turning vast teritories into desserts ,because of over grazing and the exessive pumping of carbon aquifiers ,the surface aquifiers already having been depleted.

And the use of fertilisers and heavy machinery that compacts the ground which raises the salt in the soil.

Modern agriculture today is doing the same as ghengas kahn but in much bigger territories.

farmers are forced to cultivate highly erodable lands, to keep up with the growing demand for food.an extra 70 million people each year and this is increasing

the world population has doubled in the last 50 years the fasted increase ever since the first homo sapian. Source(s) http://spaces.msn.com/byderule

  6. Not all logging is bad.  Forestry management is actually a good thing, and so is having wood to build houses for people to live in.

  7. If you like to breath and like temperatures below 120 degress then you shouldn't go tree logging.
