  1. Where periodic things such as seismic waves (or any wave) occur, trig functions (sin, cos, tan) come in handy.

For optics, there is a lot of light-bending to account for. When a ray of light bends, there is an angle. Where this an angle... there is trig.

  2. The use of trigonometry in practical life is endless. That depends upon how best you can use it. Any thing related with either distance or angle of three side are calculated by using trigonometry. But what we are studuying at heigher stage may not be that much usefull for practical day to day life.

  3. Hey,

There's probably books written on this but here's the short version. Trigonometry, pi, circles and all sorts of other things are all related. And if you think about it, we live on Earth, and Earth is roughly a sphere, and many other things in nature are curved and not straight or rectangular, to tame this circular objects you have to use trigonometry.

    Hope this helps
