Why is wasting electricity a terrible thing....?

its not as though electricity is going to "run out"...like oil or something......ok..perhaps your bill is a bit bigger if you choose to use your way more convenient dryer rather than the time consuming outdoor clothesline..id rather pay the extra 10 bucks a month to use my freaking dryer than annoying hang clothes all day.......so whats the big "deal" about "wasting electricity"??..surely its as endless as time.....unlike oil or some such................annoying concept ...i will continue to use my dryer and normal lite bulbs ..rather than the expensive "energy saving" ones that cost loads of cash...blah

Damming rivers is hardly clean energy.  The demand creates a strain on spillover allowances.  Dryers are hard on your clothing anyways.  Texas is dotted with polluting sources of power.  Some states use nuclear power back east which is dangerous as far as pollution goes.  There are plenty of options such as wind power that are becoming availble as resources are strained.  The math shows that the energy saving ones last longer.  I have lived in my apartment for almost 3 years and have had to replace one light bulb.  It also helps keep my rent low.  Good luck following corporate ideals.

I pretty much agree with you about your level of energy consumption being your own choice and business.  If you want to play, you must pay.

But consider this:  The more energy you consume, the higher your energy bills will be.  

And, from an environmental standpoint, electrical energy is produced by coal-burning plants or nuclear power.  So there is some polution involved.  But in the case of nuclear, this is the cleanest and safest form of energy production.  

The USA produces only 20% of their electrical energy while France produces 80% of theirs.  

We are far behind in this department and need to develop our nuclear resources.  

As usual, who is standing in the way of this progress.  Why it's the liberal Democrats, that's who.  No surprise.

electricitiy is made from things like coal, oil and sometimes gas these things run out and when they run out they take millions of years to form again. If you get or use renable energy sorces like wind, solar hydo ect it won't run out and everyone will be able to enjoy electrical things for many more years.

Electricity mainly comes from oil and coal burning.

A plant somewhere will burn the fuel. The fuel powers a generator which sends electricity into the power grid. Then you get it.

It isn't only the electricity you are wasting you are wasting the resources used to make that electricity.  Also, by using electricity when it is really isn't necessary, you are potentially helping to lead to a brown out or black out esp in the hot summer months when everyone's got the ac on

Because " Saving electricity  means production of electricity". Plz know the fact although electricity doesnt run out like petrol or other fuels but the production cost is gng high and its production requires energy sources which is running out.

Some village in a third world county is running on dung fuel, so don’t you waste the electricity, use it all.

electricity is created by using fossil fuels. one day that will run out.

But since electricity has been seamless, it appears to you that it it's "endless". I propose that you spend a week camping out somewhere where there is no electricity, running water, flush toilets, etc. this will sober your perspective.
