Why is water an ideal medium for living things?

I kind of need a couple reasons with some good information. Help will be appreciated.

1. It absorbs and releases heat very slowly, so that a constant body temperature can be maintained.

2. It requires a large quantity of heat to change from liquid to gas.

3. As water evaporates from the body it takes a lot of heat with it, which helps to keep the body cool.

2. It has a higher than normal capacity for hydrogen bonding

because of these properties it is able to dissolve any compound with charges or charge centers.Dissolving ions is especially important in the living body. It can act as a transportation of ions and molecules from one part of the body to another.
