Why is water leaking out of my lightswitch?

Next to my kitchen countertops is a light switch with three switches. I just noticed water slowly dripping down the wall from the switch. It is hardly noticeable on the white wall until I look at the ground and saw a puddle about a foot in diameter. I now have a towel their to aborbs the puddles. I opened the switch and saw water in there. The sink and dishwasher is 3 feet to the right of the switch and their is garden hose attachment directly outside (it is turned off). What would cause water to drip through my wall and out of my lightswitch? Do I need to call a plumber?

If ur not mopping the floor constantly ...tells u that it's not leaking from ur water line.  So now u have to trace where the water is coming in when u use the water.  Most likely, some one use the water hose and it got water inside the house to the plug. (through careless spraying.)

most likely it is a leaking pipe in the wall. try to look at areas that the wall is adjacent to, like cabinets, pantrys, etc, for signs of water leak damage. be careful when handling near the switch as you could get shocked. i suggest you turn off the breaker that powers the circuit for that switch, because if something goes wrong and a short circuit occurs, a fire can start.

the only thing i can think of, other than a leaking pipe in the wall or ceiling, is water splash maybe from a nearby sink accumulating in the switch box.

whatever the situation, it cant be safe. call a plumber for assistance and keep people from the area. good luck

Sounds like a pipe sprung a leak. Shut the power off to your kitchen at the fuse box and get a plumber quick before you have a short start a fire. Don't play with any switches either.
