heres my notes.

atmosphere is warmer

breezes carry away evaporated water

and what is the relationship between percipitation and temperature

thanks

  1. Because the water from the lake is evaporating.  Evaporation absorbs thermal energy from the air around it, making the air cooler.

  2. thats because on area that has lake mostly heat transfer is by latent heat transfer.. while within the area that doesn't have any lake it is mostly by sensible heat flux.. as describe in the equation of energy balance below:

    Rn = H + LE + G + M

    where:

    Rn = net radiation from solar

    LE = latent heat evapotranspiration flux

    G = ground heat flux

    H = sensible heat flux.

    M = miscellaneous like heat that use for photosynthesis, melting snow etc.

    H or sensible heat flux, is a transfer of heat that will show in temperature increament. so, if most energy by the solar radiation are transfer via this kind of flux.. it will be a sure that other transfers will be lower in amount. So in the other case if most of transfer are in latent heat flux.. where we cant identify the temperature increament .. surely the sensible heat flux will be decrease so there will be no tempearture increament.

    well about the relationship between temperature and precipitation.. some research show that more precipitation when the average temperature is warmer than the median daily value. just like in most tropical country.. but surely we can sense it that usually temperature is colder when there is a prcipitation and normally temperature is a little bit increase firstly before precipitation (raining).

  3. Water is evaporating from the lake and evaporation is a cooling process so that is why air is cooler near a lake. Another factor is that water has a much higher specific heat. Specific heat means the require heat to raise a gram substance by 1 degree Celsius. Water has specific heat of 1 degree C/g to raise its temperature while land has a specific heat of .19 degree C/ g.. So land has a lower heat capacity so therefore land warms faster than water and water cools slower than land. That is why the sea breeze reverses direction as the sun goes down.
