Two things come to mind:

1) It's like asking, "How did the Horse Fly gets its name?"

Any fool knows its parents gave it to him. I mean... duh!

2) In another galaxy far far away they were making up words for everything and a 'gray' spoke up and mumbled, "Lets call water wet." And another 'gray' mumbled back, "No, let's call it dry!" So they took a vote and "wet" is what it came out to be.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is the real reason water came to be known as 'wet'.

And there's one other reason... so that in the future all question askers who ask water questions in the pool & snooker catagory will be referred to as... "all wet".
