Why is web browsing so slow in Windows Vista?

I am using Windows Vista Home Premium (it came with my new PC). But no matter what browser I use, web surfing is always really SLOW. What can I do about it?

If it's a brand new PC and you didn't get ripped off for some seriously underpowered clunker then it's probably your internet service provider that's giving you slow service.  (Vista really isn't slow as long as you're not trying to run it on an old, underpowered machine.  I run Vista on a nearly 4 year old PC and it runs great.)

Try running a speed test at http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?flas...

Also try running a tweak test http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks to see if the way you have your connection setup is optimal.

Do you know who your ISP is and what service you are paying for?  If you're paying for 3mbps download and Speed Test tells you you're getting 0.5mbps for example, you'll want to call customer support and ask for assistance.

From what I've heard, Vista is really slow all around.
