  1. world history is important i guess because we need to learn about past events so that we do not make the same mistakes as we did in the past. It allows us to learn from what went wrong, and to have the opportunity to correct and do the right thing. World History is also important since it allows us to learn about other people and their cultures, so we do not make the mistake of insulting them when we do encounter them, i suppose. Lack of historical knowledge also weakens our understanding of values and ideals important to our country as well as others.

  2. World History is important because it helps us understand the cultures of the different nations around us. We all share the same world, so it helps us understand one another better to know the history of our world. There is also a connection to literature. Without knowledge of world history, we couldn’t understand the literature of the past, or literature from other countries.

I won’t write the essay for you, but I hope these points help give you something to write about. Also, here’s a quote that might help:

“Those who cannot learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” – George Santayana, 20th century philosopher.

  3. here are a few of my initial thoughts --

reading about other countries & cultures & their past, etc gives you a better understanding of other people, their world, their struggles & progress.

it gives you a more balanced worldview.

it helps to reduce prejudices, biases, zenophobia, stereotyping - leads to better acceptance & accomodation. humans are basically the same everywhere - it is their surroundings, circumstances, their past, etc. that have shaped & influenced them.

it makes one understand how mankind has progressed over the centuries; how interaction, trade, common growth & development have occured; how people have connected & helped or destroyed each other; how reconciliations & diplomacy worked .

how reigns of power arose, dominated & then were replaced by other power centres/countries.

and, of course, the cliched - to learn from past historical mistakes & avoid them in future.

once you understand a country & its people in its historical & cultural perspective it helps you as a person And as a country to connect with them accordingly - to bolster trade, communication, dialogue, treaties, etc. You can avoid historical pitfalls & errors to find common ground..

hope these help you start off

    all the best

  4. Because those that don't understand history are doomed to repeat it.  We have to learn from the mistakes of the past and build upon the successes.

  5. its importint to know history so u wont make the same foolish mistakes the people in the past made

  6. The reason that it is good to know and understand history in general is to make sure you don't re-create it in the wrong way. In other words you want to re-create the good but not the bad. Humans have been on this planet for awhile and have plenty of times repeated history, good and bad, but most remember the bad. You can look at moments in history and find out for yourself so you can write your paper.

    Good luck.
