  1. Because all the sides reflect off each other so when you look at the bottom of the spoon you are actually seeing a reflection of what the top part of the spoon is "seeing" and the same goes for every tiny portion of the spoon so in the end it ends up being an upside down picture.

  2. Because of the way the light reflects from parallel ray to be reflected at a different angle.

say a light ray goes in at the top of the spoon, due to the spoons concave structure, it is reflected to the bottom of the spoon before being reflected back out again, therefore flipping the image that it produces to the eye.

  3. Good question, but your reflection off the bottom of a spoon is right side up.

  4. Due to the curvature of the inside of a spoon the top side shows a reflection of your chin, because it is like a downward facing mirror.  The bottom side shows a reflection of your forehead, because it is an upwards facing mirror. Turn the spoon around and your reflection is stretched because the top of the "mirror" and the bottom of the "mirror" are further away from your face than the center.

  5. if you look at the back of the spoon, it's not.

but if you look at the front, it is.

consider, when you look in the spoon, what do you see?

try it -- look at a finger, and move that finger around.

for any point where you hold your finger, if you had a 'small' flat mirror, what angle would you have to hold that flat mirror so that you could see the finger?

you could try it with  some small mirror.

you'll note that if you do, you could pretend that you're holding that small mirror along the curve of a spoon.

and when your finger is held high, you have to tip the mirror up, and if it was on the outside of the spoon, you'd have to roll it down to the bottom of the mirror, so that you could see your finger when it's above your head.

conversely, if you move you finger down below your chin, you have to tilt the mirror down, and if it were on the outside of the spoon, you'd have to roll it up to the top of the spoon to see your finger below your chin.

so, to see something low, you had to look near the top of the spoon, and to see something high, you had to look near the bottom.

or, the top of your head is lower on the spoon than is your chin.

and your image is upside down.

btw, left and right are reversed in the same way.

in a spoon it's hard to see because the image is so small.

but if you look, and move your hand/finger around, you can see it more easily.

  6. it is because it is a convex mirror and so as the image reflects off the focal point it is inverted. it is actually a correct image but it all has to do with the reflection of the image

  7. because the light bends of each side of the spoon showing u diffrent angles of the picture

  8. the shape of the spoon causes it to reflect light hitting it at an angle, when this happens, the light will eventually be reversed, creating the up-sides-down illusion.

for this same reason, the other side of the spoon makes everything look stretched out, because the light is being reflected outwards.
