Why isn't English America's offical language?

So what? Other countries are made up of OTHER NATIONALITIES but they still have an official language.

  2. Why should it be? To be completely honest, a Native American language should be the official language since they were there first - you, like 99% of Americans are an immigrant or are descended from one. The French established colonies in America long before the English arrived, so technically any official language should be French. The same for Australia - their nation is made up of many nationalities but because they were a British colony, English is their de facto language. Even the UK doesn't have an official language and that's where English comes from!
