Question:

Why isn't God reaching out with his holy hand and prevent the hurricane from hitting New Orleans?

Many innocent people could die just like in Katrina.

Wasn't Katrina enough to make God intervene and save lives?

Why did he even let it hit Cuba? Many innocent Cubans died too. God could easily change the direction of this nasty near category 5 Hurricane

  1. Because that is not how he handles things at this time. Satan said man could live without God's help and God has let him and man make it on their own.

The ones who died at Katrina, 1. didn't heed the warning, 2 the governments who promised to protect their people, city, state and national, failed, (that's all we heard about for the past 3 years), and 3. humans have no control over nature.

So, don't get your hopes up too much about global warming either, since they are promising to do "something" about it.

  2. "God could easily change the direction"

Not sure if that's true...God would have to be all-powerful...maybe His God told Him not to...makes about as much sense as any other answer you'll get tonight, don't it?

  3. The newest idea is that the Chinese sent it.

"Why did he even let it hit Cuba" is quite the inhumane comment.  Are Cubans an afterthought?

  4. According to Christians God reaches out with his holy hand to cause hurricanes and similar disasters.

  5. Why dont you Blame the Bush Administration? Everyones seems to  blame them on everything else, including the Jurassic and Permian extinction!!!!

  6. What happens when disasters happen? People cry out to God! People help each other! Yes, God could change the direction of the storm but it will hit exactly where it is His will for it to hit. All we need to do is prepare. Many people die because they don't prepare and heed warning. Just like people going to h**l, people are not heading God's warnings and  His invitation.

  7. God does allow people to reap what they sow.

  8. .

Because god gave us free will.  That enabled George W. Bush to create global warming, this caused Katrina. Then, the idiot thought the other idiots living below the high water line in Louisiana, would be smart enough to have at least some bottles of Evian at the stadium where they took the victims who were too stoopid enough to leave, even though they were warned in plenty of time. Then he figured, oh well, maybe Katrina would drown any terrorists who might have been hiding in caves below the delta. He prayed, but knew god was on his side, and could kick *** on the other god, Allah, especially because another god, Jehovah, had joined forces with him. I hope that answers your question.

  9. Obviously there are NO invisible sky critters who take the least bit of interest in the affairs of human, planets and universi.

  10. Everything happens for a reason. What happened in New Orleans was horrible but if they had fixed the levees on time then the outcome of that storm would have been different. God lets you free to do what you want, but consequences come along. So since they didn't fix the dam and the levees on time, then the storm was even more devastating because the water flooded in and what not.

  11. Same reason he didn't reach out his holy hand to save 3,000 people on 9-11.  He doesn't exist.

  12. An amazing, complex God has created an amazing, complex world, and you think this question can be answered in a sentence?

-- We aren't exactly sharing unconditional love to help out, now are we?

-- We aren't exactly stirring up our chakras to help out, now are we?

-- We aren't exactly praying and fasting to help out like the people of Nineveh, now are we?

-- We aren't exactly building our cities on ground above sea level, now are we?

-- When many friends and I prayed and fasted for the people of west Africa, the fighting finally stopped.

-- I have seen people miraculously cured, including myself.

-- But we will all die physically, even you and I; I almost died some years back.  I trust that the next level (afterlife) will be quite an adventure.

-- Perhaps, apart from our help, God chooses not to intervene as though we were bumps on a log.

-- Perhaps the universe space-time fabric has built-in randomness and chance, including the possibility of hurricanes.

You make God sound like Superman.   But the reality of the situation is probably much more involved than that.

  13. Because there is no such thing.

  14. If a god existed it would probably hate America.

As it stands the hurricanes are a natural phenomena and getting worse because of global warming (mostly caused by the USA).

The destruction of New Orleans could probably be viewed as an 'own goal' by the USA.

I hope the people evacuate the city in good time and remain safe.

  15. God lets all kinds of horrible things happen.  It happens all the time.  Either He doesn't care, or He wants it to happen, like suffering with cancer and dying in agony or getting shot in a robbery or watching a puppy die somehow makes you a better person.  It doesn't make any sense, but we are not spiritual beings, we are physical beings.  God does not answer prayers, either.  Or everybody would be billionaires in perfect health and live forever and that doesn't happen, does it?

  16. You mean if God was real He could.

  17. We don't know yet whether New Orleans will be spared this time.  However we do know that God does not approve of homophobia, because it's immoral and sinful.  Louisiana did not get the message last time.  Now, the anti-g*y, Republican Governor recently bragged about not renewing an Executive Order barring discrimination against g*y state employees.  I guess it's "loving" to fire people from jobs.  God will not be mocked forever.

  18. I don't know if this analogy is offensive to anybody's religion but I look at it this way. I think God created the world and the natural laws that run weather, etc. But he does not stand there and run things.

Think of it like an engine. God made the engine, the parts run, he fixes it sometimes, he watches to see if it is running right. Sometimes though, it does not work exactly right.- There is a hurricane, or tornado, or earthquake or war (which of course is man-made) He knows about the hurricane and has made the physical laws that cause the hurricane, but he is not pushing it into New Orleans, or Cuba or whatever. It just runs, like the engine runs if you turn it on, you do not do something to the spark plugs or whatever, the car just runs.

I think when there is a disaster, God wants people working together to help each other. I don't think he "sent" Katrina to destroy New Orleans, it was a hurricane and did what hurricanes do. But people helped each other (and sometimes hurt each other, too) I think helping each other and seeing if people will, is why he allows these things. I basically don't think he is punishing people.

No matter where this hurricane hits many people could be hurt or killed. I don't think God is trying to hurt innocent people, these things just happen. Prayer can help to get God to intervene, but people in New Orleans are praying for it to leave them alone, while people in Texas and Mississippi are too. Only God knows, but I think he basically lets the natural world take care of itself.

  19. When one can think and act without blaming someone else, things change.

  20. Why are we so stupid and build entire cities BELOW SEA LEVEL- when we know full well that there isn't anything man can make that nature can't lay flat?

Doesn't it seem a bit stupid to you?

  21. We live in a fallen world because of sin. Because we have chosen to disobey God. Also it is important to keep in mind that this life is not all that their is. We all die sooner or later. Some will go to Heaven and others to h**l when ever a disaster strikes.

  23. Because he might decide it helps bring humans together..banding together against the wrath of nature...

or he could be make believe...a figment of humans imagination created to explain things we couldnt understand

  24. Because even if people die, it is only temperary. God has the power to bring everyone life...He sustains all life, and gave all life. He is just, if someone loses a life, it is tragic on this earth. But not quite as tragic when you remember that God brings us all back to life in the end, and does give us justice!

  25. "It's Satan duh!"

  26. How about we get on our knees and pray to God, instead of mocking Him?

Or if you don't believe in God, how about you stop blaming someone you think doesn't exist?

Seriously.  Pick something and stop trying to play both ways.

  27. good question

bet you get some answers telling you Katrina was and Gustave may be New Orleans punishment for something........

  28. i dont think its hardly fair to blame God for this horrible hurricane. I live here in New Orleans and im evacuating tomorrow at 4 in the morning..so sad. i wish he would help but i don't see much going on here..let's just have faith in him and pray. u never kno-the hurricane may take a different turn and go to like..florida.

maybe God is trying to tell us that New Orleans needs to be completely rebuilt?although i dont think its a very good way to show it..it may be true. most of my friends say that they r moving out of new orleans if their houses flood or something.

im hearing its the storm of the century.be on ur watch and get the h**l outta here lol..bye -Julia

  29. God isn't there to save humanity from it's problems, nor is he the cause,  Why don't you stop people from being robbed or shot? Praying is always a good thing, but don't try to put God in any sort of box or think of him as responsible, because he isn't.

  30. Thats one scary avatar!

  31. The god Zeus can prevent lightning storms. Oh wait, he doesn't exists and can't.
