When you think big countries you think USA, England, India, Russia, France, Germany, Australia, China, Japan... India is the only one that hasn't been involved nearly at all... Are they waiting for the Winter games or something? I think they need to get in the game or stop trying to pretend they're a burgeoning nation!

  1. The kids down there are more into education, if you're into sports, there's really no money in it unless its cricket. And then you would have to be a kick *** cricketer. Honestly, if you enjoy kicking a ball around, your parents would be pretty upset with what you chose in life. The only people who go to the Olympics are the ones with loads of money and connections. Education has a great deal of respect in India. That's how it is. If your parents are millionaires, and they've got connections, you're in. Course, you should be a little good too. But you have a better chance if you enjoy school and education. BLAHBLAHBLAH.

Yeah, they've got population, but half the people in India are starving to death.

Anyways, thats that. And thats the truth.

  2. Mainly because they are obsessed by Cricket there, they have never even had one single Footballer or been in The World Cup.They are just as hopeless at The Winter Olympics too,you ever seen an Indian in that either?

  3. You can't starve to compete in sports. Given the fact mass population may nurture adequate raw talents, scouting, training and polishing them to become competitive athletes is different kettle of fish. You need money and government incentives.

One way to acquire capital is to commericalise sport events just like what China and the U.S. are doing. Basketball, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics and rowing can draw huge audience who eventually pay the deal.

  4. Because it's difficult for an Indian to practice sports when he/she is dying of starvation or disease. India might become a more significant Olympic force in maybe 20 years.

  5. They play sports which are generally not included in the Olympics, such as Cricket.  Generally countries that are successful at the Olympics have governments which are willing to spend big $$ on top of the line equipment etc for their athletes to train with.

  6. i think they need to investigate really well what sports really suit them and go all out for it like the chinese do. that's why they have so many golds. choose events that compliments and fully utilizes your people's mind and body
