Why isn't Luis Castillo playing?

He was supposed to come off of the DL today and start.

Right now the second-base combo of A. Reyes and D. Easley are doing a great job.  The Mets have won 10 of 11.  Why mess that up?  Let Castillo sit.

No, he was eligible to come off the DL today. No one said anything about starting him. I would suspect you won't see him until September 1 roster expansion... and I wouldn't expect to see him play much even then. The Mets have realized they made a big mistake signing him last year and they're just going to sit him, and hope someone is dumb enough to want him in the off season.

They probably want him to sit out, watch the boys play, and give him a day to rest, and be a good pinch-hit or pinch-run option
